Overview of Payment Types
CellPay supports two distinct payment types through its APIs: Member Payment and System Payment. The payment type determines how funds are routed and which parameters are required during transaction initiation. Payment types define the destination of funds when a transaction is executed through the CellPay API. The correct payment type must be selected based on the transaction use case, as each type has different routing logic and parameter requirements.
Member Payment
Member Payment is used when a transaction involves transferring funds from the sender to another CellPay member. Under this payment type, the amount is credited to the recipient member’s wallet or linked bank account. The recipient member must be identified using either the member’s registered mobile number or the unique member ID. This payment type is typically used for peer-to-peer transfers or account-based fund movements between CellPay members.
System Payment
System Payment is used when making payments to service providers or system-level accounts managed by CellPay. In this payment type, funds are not credited to another member’s wallet. Instead, the amount is transferred directly to a system account, such as CellPay’s service settlement account. System Payment is primarily used for utility payments, mobile top-ups, internet bills, and similar services.
